The 21-year-old made his debut in August 2022 during a Carabao Cup game against Oxford, but his breakthrough campaign was last season. Abdulai made seven substitute appearances in the Championship and started three cup matches contributing to one goal.
Abdulai has taken on a more important role with the Awans so far this campaign, he has standout performer scoring two goals in five appearances across all competitions. The skillful midfielder has drawn comparisons with Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham due to his playing style and stature.
It has been reported that the two clubs have had scouts regularly watching Abdulai recently, amid interest in him from many clubs. Luke Williams is said to be desperate to keep the Scotsman at the club, with two years remaining on his current contract.
