West Ham United’s new number 9 is off the mark for the season after scoring the opener in Germany’s 5-0 UEFA Nations League win over Hungary.

Füllkrug broke the deadlock after 27 minutes, finishing off a well-worked team goal. Balon D’or nominee picked out lef-back David Raum’s run in behind the defence, he calmly played it back to Jamal Musiala who picked out Füllkrug who was waiting to tap it into an empty net.

The Germans went into half-time just one goal up but they ran away with it in the second period. Wirtz and Musiala who were both heavily involved in the opening goal began to steal the show for Julian Nagelsmann’s side. They assisted each other before Musiala laid on his third assist of the match for Aleksander Pavlovic. Kai Havertz wrapped up the win with a late penalty.

Now off the mark, Niclas will be hoping to really ger going in the claret and blue of West Ham United, it will be interesting to see if the German will start against Fulham, with Antonio returning from International duty with Jamaica.

Elsewhere, Konstantinos Mavropanos’ Greece also began their Nations League campaign with a win, defeating Finland 3-0 in Athens. Jarrod Bowen also featured off the bench in Englan’s 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland. It was a bad night for Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal as they started in Czechia’s 4-0 away defeat to Georgia.
