West Ham have overpaid on the signing of Niclas Fullkrug, its been stated by ESPN commentator Derek Rae.
As reported in an exclusive by HammersChat.com, the Bundesliga analyst feels that the club paid a premium on the German international, with some concerns that he will be another striker who has failed to be a success at the club.
“Yes they probably have overpaid,” Rae told HammersChat.com. “In Germany there is a price, then there is a Premier League price.
“At 31, Dortmund would have been happy with that fee, without a doubt. Also Fullkrug did not feel appreciated there.
“Dortmund didn’t have the greatest season last season, so it was felt like the right move to allow Fullkrug to depart.”
“Interestingly, the player himself has said that the football in England is less tactical. He feels it’s more dynamic and direct, where as he’s been used to teams holding possession more to control the tempo of the game.”
Fullkrug is expected to have a late fitness assessment ahead of our London derby with Chelsea this weekend, with the hope being he has shaken off an ankle complaint he picked up while on international duty with Germany.
