Rumours that Julen Lopetegui is at risk of losing his job as West Ham head coach are simply untrue.

The Moyes in versus Moyes out debate essentially boiled down to one question: What should our expectations as fans be? For a club like Manchester City, it’s easy, they should be winning as many trophies as possible each season. For a club like Southampton, it’s obviously their goal to avoid relegation. However, for a club like West Ham, it is difficult to draw the line.

David Moyes was undoubtedly a victim of his own success, but should fans have been happy with just pushing for Europe each season, or were they right to want a manager who will help them to take the leap to the next level?

Whether or not Julen Lopetegui will be able to push the Hammers on remains to be seen, but he’s not had the most ideal of starts to his time in charge of West Ham. At this stage of last season, West Ham has 10 points compared to the 4 they currently have.

This lacklustre start has led to some rumours that the Spaniard is under pressure to start getting results soon or his job could be at risk. Unsurprisingly, these reports are not true, according to Football Insider.

West Ham’s owners are known for given managers a fair crack at the whip, and it simply wouldn’t make sense to sack Lopetegui after 4 incredibly tricky games, when he hasn’t played his best XI, and he hasn’t had a chance to fully embed his style of play. Change takes time and it’s ridiculous to even suggest that time is not on his side.
