West Ham have topped an embarrassing chart for the third consecutive year.

While the whole culture of football hooliganism has largely disappeared in England, the tribalism of the sport can still cause a lot of issues for the police.

Unfortunately, West Ham’s reputation of criminal acts that they gained from the Green Street films seems to hold some truth as the Met Office has revealed the club had the most football related arrests last season.

The report stated that 103 West Ham fans were arrested, considerably ahead of join second place Manchester United and Manchester City who both have 88 each.

As well as the most arrests, the Hammers also have the most football banning orders with 93, with Manchester United sitting on 89, and Millwall on 82.

Although fans will undoubtedly make jokes out of the situation, it is also something that needs addressing. It’s something that could end up having real implications on the club as a whole.

In fairness, the laws under the football banning order mean that some fans get in trouble with the police for ridiculously small matters, and there’s been some genuine stories of unjust arrests at West Ham but, on the whole, us as supporters need to be doing as much as possible to make sure the club has a good image.
