West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui said fans must wait until the end of the season before they can judge him.
For well over a year, David Moyes was consistently under immense pressure to keep his job. Unfortunately, he couldn’t outrun that for so long and it was likely down to his impressive record in Europe that he stayed as manager for so long.
Unfortunately, Julen Lopetegui doesn’t have the luxury of a European competition to fall back on, so his awful start to life at the helm of West Ham United can’t not be masked.
In his first 6 Premier League games, he’s managed to secure just 5 points, with the only win coming against Crystal Palace. Despite this poor form, the Spaniard has told fans to not judge him until the end of the campaign. “The coach’s job is always like this,” Lopetegui stated.
“We have experience about this and we are thinking how to improve the team, to be able to play better and develop our skills to win matches. This is our work and this is the high pressure I can feel every day as a coach. I think the Premier League has 38 matches and we’ll talk in May.”
The fact that he’s already having to say things like this to the media really is a worrying sign. He clearly is feeling a bit of pressure and wants to be reassured that he will be given a fair chance to turn things round.
Hopefully this poor form does finally come to an end so that the Hammers can start using their unbelievable squad to the fullest.
