One of West Ham’s key players has been accused of being “disinterested” during the club’s 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Despite picking up a point at a ground they’ve struggled with in recent years, there was a real disappointment with West Ham’s draw at Brentford. While it was far from the worst performance they’ve had under Julen Lopetegui, it was just uninspiring yet again.

Unfortunately, it feels like the problems are starting to run deeper than just the tactics, as some players clearly don’t look up to the challenge. When a team is struggling like the Hammers, they need their best players to drag them up, but it seems like some of theirs are not interested.

In particular, Lucas Paqueta has been slammed by talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino for his poor performance. “I’ll tell you who was really disappointing, Paqueta for West Ham,” Cascarino told talkSPORT. “I thought he really didn’t get going and by the way, looked really disinterested.”

“I was watching [Julen] Lopetegui as soon as he made two or three really bad passes in the game, Lopetegui looked at him and eventually dragged him off.”

Frustratingly, this is not anything new for the Brazilian. It’s been a long time since he consistently performed well for our Irons and this look of disinterest has been seen almost every week. If he wanted to be. Paqueta could easily be the best player at the club and one of the best players in the league, but his heart just doesn’t seem in it.
