West Ham Women’s summer signing Seraina Piubel is looking to kick on from her first taste of WSL football in Claret and Blue as Rehanne Skinner’s side play three matches over the next week.
The Hammers face Liverpool in their first home match of the new season before taking on Portsmouth on Wednesday in the group stages of the Women’s League Cup. West Ham Women then travel up to Manchester to take on the difficult task of facing Manchester City on Sunday the 6th of October.
Swiss international Piubel joined the Hammers this summer from FC Zurich. The 24 year old is already excited to build on the 31 minutes she played in the opening day defeat to Manchester United.
Piubel has been in East London a little over three weeks, she has heaped praise on both her new teammates and the staff at the club for how they have helped her settle in. Speaking to the Club’s official website Piubel has discussed how her focus is now firmly on getting more minutes and adapting to the level required to perform and succeed in the WSL.
“It was an amazing feeling to make my debut for the Club last weekend. To do that in a stadium like Old Trafford was incredible. I got to see first hand what the level of opposition is like here in England, they were a good team.” said Piubel.
The 24 year old went on to add: “I would say it was a good debut for me and I want to build on that going into this week. For me, I’m going to keep working hard in training to be able to help the team when I get my opportunities.”
Looking ahead to a busy week of matches for her and her Hammers teammates, Piubel told whufc.com: “It’s the start of a busy week for us, and we all want to make sure that we come away with as many points and as many wins as we possibly can. We want to put on a good performance for our fans too !”
