A journalist has claimed that there is absolutely no plan b at West Ham United.

In football things can go wrong almost out of nowhere. A player, manager, or team can fail when you’d never expect them to. Unfortunately, what’s happened at West Ham is anything but unpredictable.

The appointment of Julen Lopetegui wasn’t exactly a popular one amongst the East London faithful, in fact they signed a petition in their thousands against him. While he still needs to be given time to turn things around, it’s not looking brilliant right now.

Shockingly, despite these concerns, it’s been claimed by journalist Dean Jones that there is not a single backup option in the event that Lopetegui has to be sacked. “West Ham look set to stick with Lopetegui for now,” Jones wrote.

“There are signs of friction in the camp and results/performances have not been good enough. But they do not have an obvious Plan B to turn to and Lopetegui is likely to get a chance to turn things around.”

Although it’s obvious that the club will give him as much time as possible, there physically has to be a point where, if this continues, he is let go off – the fact that they’re not prepared for this scenario with how poor the start has been is slightly Concerning. However, they do clearly back the manager to get things on track and this confidence from the board can only be a good thing.
