West Ham’s win over Ipswich Town could well be lift off fans have been craving for this season.
It’s a new era in east London under Julen Lopetegui and with a huge summer spend in the transfer market, there is a high expectation that things can be achieved at the London Stadium this season.
However it has been a slow start to proceedings, with many less than convincing performances – however thats came to an end in the win over Ipswich Town, where West Ham showcased what they are capable of.
The 4-1 win was not just a huge relief for all connected with the club, but it’s now given hope that a big corner is being turned as we look to mount a challenge for European football again next season.
Speaking after the game, The West Ham Way Podcast duo Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee gave their thoughts on the result, with both living in hope that West Ham are finally up and running.
“My god did we need that,” exclaimed Walker. “A brilliant result with some real quality at times.
“Just what we wanted going into an international break. Let’s hope this is the game when everything falls into place moving forward.”
“That’s more like it,” agreed Ex. “I thought we played really well and an early goal helped settle the nerves.
“A goal before half time and after were also great nerve settlers and I thought every player had a good game!
“Nice to go into the international break with a win like that, let’s hope this is the platform to build on now.”
