West Ham are said to be keen on signing Euro 2024 who’s had an unbelievable start to the season.
Despite having a massive Summer rebuild, West Ham still have the highest average squad age (28.1) by a considerable margin.
Many fans had hoped that the recruitment team would go out and buy purely young, exciting players. While they did bring in players like Summerville and Todibo, they also signed the likes of Fullkrug and Rodriguez.
Unfortunately, it seems like this trend of signing older players may be about to continue as, according to Fichajes, the Hammers are weighing up a move for Ayoze Perez.
The 2024 Euros winner has just joined Villarreal, and he’s had an incredible start to the season. In 7 La Liga matches, he’s scored 6 goals.
At 31-years-old, he’s certainly not got too many years left in the tank, but his versatility and excellent eye for goal could make him a valuable asset to have. It’s unlikely he’d be a regular starter given the attacking players the East London side have at their disposal, so whether or not he’d be willing to be a squad player remains to be seen.
