Aaron Cresswell seems to have a brilliant relationship with Emerson despite being his direct competition.

Over his decade as a Hammer, Aaron Cresswell has been an unbelievable player. He’s undoubtedly been one of the club’s greatest left-backs and played a pivotal part in getting West Ham to where they are today.

However, over the past couple of seasons, he has been forced to play backup to Emerson, and that really started with the Conference League final. The scouse defender has previously stated how hard it was to deal with that decision, but he ultimately would rather the Irons have won the match like they did than for him to have started.

Thankfully though, there are no hostilities between the pair – in fact the opposite is true. Cresswell has claimed that the two have a great relationship, and he was keen to emphasise just how good of a player the Italian is.

“Emerson really is a fantastic player,” Cresswell exclaimed. “He’s been brilliant at West Ham!”

“I have a great relationship with him, even though his strong form might be limiting my game time. It doesn’t matter which one of us gets the call to play, because we’re really supportive of one another.”

It really is brilliant to see the togetherness of the squad. While the European nights were amazing, watching a team who genuinely cared for each other is what made them so special. Hopefully Lopetegui is able to recapture some of that magic chemistry and put it to good use this season.
