West Ham are very concerned over the fitness of summer signing Niclas Fullkrug, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund has been absent for a number of weeks having sustained an injury to his achilles and ankle area whilst on international duty with Germany.

It was initially hoped he’s return within a shorter time frame, however concerns and delays have continued, although there was confidence the player would be back in action following the current international break to face Spurs on Saturday.

However, our club insider ExWHUEmployee has this morning reported on The West Ham Way Patreon that there are significant doubts over the players return, with the fear being he could be out for a number of weeks further.

“There are concerns emerging from the club this morning that German forward Niclas Fullkrug could be out for even longer than first expected,” stated Ex.

“The player was injured on the first international break and hasn’t been seen since, there are fears this absence could go on for a number of weeks yet.

“It was hoped he could be back for the Spurs game this weekend but this is now thought to be extremely unlikely and the following Manchester United fixture is also doubtful too.”

A top senior source did however state there was a ‘chance’ of an appearance off the bench on Saturday, and that the fitness issues relate to a long term absence from competitive action.

This however appears to be a very optimistic view, with the understanding at this stage that Fullkrug’s chances of a return to face Spurs this weekend as highly unlikely.
