West Ham are trying to improve the atmosphere at the London Stadium.

People complain about the journey, the expensive food, the view, but what everyone dislikes about the London Stadium compared to Upton Park is the atmosphere.

The Boleyn ground was one of the toughest stadiums to go to in the country with its hostilities and intimidation factors being key to the club’s history.

Aside from the odd game, the atmosphere in Stratford is abysmal, but it’s something the board wants to work on.

According to Claret and Hugh, the club are looking at introducing a “singing section” in order to make the ground a more threatening place for opponents. “West Ham will explore a singing section in Stratford by engaging with partners and other Premier League clubs that have successfully implemented similar initiatives. The Met Police warned the group that implementing singing sections could present challenges for them.”

“The club have been keen to explore initiatives that could improve the atmosphere at the former Olympic stadium.”

While this would be unlikely to completely overhaul the experience, it could be one of a number of changes introduced. If this is the case, it will be a very welcome addition in the eyes of most fans and it would be a shame if it was stopped by the police due to stereotypes about football fans that haven’t been true for the last 20-30 years.
