West Ham are set to battle their London rivals to the signature of a Serie A star.

Despite signing one of Europe’s most prolific goalscorers from the past few seasons, Niclas Fullkrug, it does not seem like West Ham’s striker woes have been resolved in the slightest. The German has spent more time on the sidelines through injury than he has actually been available for use. With there being major doubts over his fitness levels due to his return date being set further and further back, it’s no wonder that the club are already looking at new forwards.

However, the No.9 position is not the only area of concern, with Lucas Paqueta’s place in the squad looking potentially up for grabs. Not only does he face a potential lifetime ban from football if he is found guilty of breaching betting regulations, but his form has been atrocious, leading some fans to call for him to be dropped.

As a result, the club are said to be looking at a number of potential replacements for the Brazilian, with Caught Offside reporting that they could sign Atalanta ace De Ketelaere.

While his life in Italy started off with an abhorrent season at AC Milan which saw him get just 1 goal involvement in 40 games, his time at Atalanta has been a huge success, with him getting 24 goal involvements across all competitions during the last campaign.

Unfortunately, the Irons will face stiff competition for his signature with both Arsenal and Tottenham weighing up a move.

Given his age, his poor season for Milan can be forgiven. If he can continue to impress between now and the transfer window then he could end up moving to a much bigger club than West Ham.
