Jeff Stelling delivers yet another baffling West Ham take.

Despite being one of the most well respected pundits in the entire industry, Jeff Stelling has really started to make some confusing statements since joining talkSPORT.

He’s been openly very critical of the club’s decision to get rid of David Moyes, an opinion he’s more than entitled to have, but refuses to acknowledge the other side of the argument.

While many fans were unhappy with the appointment of Julen Lopetegui due to it being the cheap and easy option, Stelling disagrees with this. “Cheap option? He was the manager of Spain and Real Madrid. I don’t think he’s cheap,” he stated, before adding: “But I do wonder if West Ham fans are regretting David Moyes?”

Obviously Lopetegui’s wages are likely to be sizable, it’s simply untrue to suggest he was not a cheap option. He’d been out of work for well over a year, meaning the board wouldn’t have had to pay any sort of compensation, something they’re known to not be fond of doing.

What’s also worth pointing out is that just because Moyes had to go in the eyes of many, doesn’t mean that Lopetegui was the man to replace him. Just because the club have seemingly got the appointment of his successor wrong, that doesn’t automatically mean they should never have switched things up at all.
