Edson Alvarez could be set for a recall to the starting eleven this weekend as West Ham take on Manchester United at the London Stadium this Sunday, according to a report from GIVEMESPORT.
West Ham United have had a very poor start to the season and Edson Alvarez has also been disappointing compared to his usual standards. The Mexican has started just three matches in the Premier League this season, largely down to his lack of form.
However, Lopetegui could have some new ideas for the Hammers midfield after a heavy defeat to Tottenham Hotspur without Alvarez. West Ham failed to take any control of the midfield on Saturday and it got completely run through at the start of the second half.
Alvarez is in line to be recalled to West Ham’s starting line-up against Manchester United on Sunday, according to GMS sources, as an inability to dictate the tempo of clashes during the early stages of Lopetegui’s reign has been among the most concerning factors behind the scenes at the London Stadium.
Alvarez will likely replace new arrival Guido Rodriguez in midfield, despite some good moments in North London on Sunday, Rodriguez isn’t quite up to the pace of the Premier League just yet. A midfield trio of Alvarez, Soucek, and Paqueta could cause Man United some problems.
It isn’t just Alvarez that is expected to come in from the start this weekend. Mohammed Kudus’ suspension means a forward player will likely come in, that could be either Cysencio Summerville or Carlos Soler.
