West Ham’s U21 side are back in league action this evening having returned from the international break. The Hammers face Wolves with the match set to be played at Aggborough Stadium, the home ground of Kidderminster Harriers.

The U21’s are currently sat level on points with both Manchester City and Liverpool and are 3rd in the PL2 table with only goal difference separating them from Liverpool in 2nd and City who are currently top of the table. With City and Liverpool both in action on Saturday, a win for Mark Robson’s side this evening would see them temporarily go top of the table depending on tomorrow’s results.

The Hammers have made a very strong start to their league season winning five of their six matches so far. The loss against Manchester City last time out, prior to the three week break, will have left the U21’s disappointed after what was a perfect start to the campaign. Victory against Wolves would help Mark Robson’s side regain momentum as they look to push for another top play off position having finished 2nd last season.

Wolves are currently without a clean sheet in the league so far this season and have found wins hard to come by. Wolves are currently in 18th place, they face two of the league’s current top three in their next two league matches in West Ham and Liverpool. The Hammers also have an excellent record against Wolves having lost once against the West Midlands side in a total of 11 matches across the last decade.

Looking ahead to this evenings tie, speaking to the Club’s Official Website, U21’s lead coach Mark Robson said: “Away at Man City was a real test for the boys, and they came up against a very strong team that got the upper hand on us. But we’ve had a bit of a breather since then, trained hard, and got plenty of players valuable game time in a friendly, so we’re ready to do it all again tomorrow against Wolves.”
