West Ham beat Manchester United in dramatic fashion thanks to a last gasp Jarrod Bowen penalty.

It was an afternoon to savour at the London Stadium, with a spirited performance from Julen Lopeteguis side which many will hope is a big moment in the Premier League season.

Although it was a slow start, West Ham grew into the game, although the visitors were guilty of missing chances which could have painted a very different outcome to the game.

It was goalless at the break, which was strange considering the amount of chances and drama it brought, however it was West Ham who took the lead in the 2nd half.

Crysencio Summerville got his first for the club having come on at half time, to give our Hammers a deserved lead with Manchester United feeling.

They did however get back into the game late on, with Casemiro heading in after Alvarez was off the field receiving treatment.

It was a blow, however it was felt there would be a winner – and there was.

West Ham were awarded a penalty after a VAR review, which Jarrod Bowen tucked away to send the London Stadium wild and gain 3 vital points.

The West Ham Way Podcast duo Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee were understandably thrilled after the thrilling encounter.

“What a massive win that was,” said a jubilant Walker. “We rode our luck in the first half but was much better in the second.

“That win has given all of us a lift, let’s hope this is the turning point for our season!”

“Classic game of two halves,” added Ex. “I thought the three substitutions made a huge difference especially Summerville.

“We got fortunate with the penalty but how many times has it been the other way against Manchester United over the years so they can suck it up.

“Think Fabianski made us look a lot more solid too and AWB was great against this former club. I’m a happy hammer and hope this kicks on our season now.”
