Ex-referee melts down after Manchester United finally had a decision going against them.

The term “Fergie time” doesn’t exist without reason. For years Manchester United has had decisions go their way, and everyone in the league had to just deal with it. Now that they no longer dominate English Football, it seems like they don’t quite have the same power.

Unfortunately for them, they still haven’t gotten used to that fact and neither have referees. Since the introduction of VAR in particular, every team has had a fair few controversial decisions go against them, but ex-referee Keith Hackett believes West Ham’s penalty against the Red Devils may be the worst he’s ever seen. “It is one of the worst [decisions] I’ve ever seen. I am struggling to even put this into words. It’s bizarre – I am stunned. Actually, it’s worse than bizarre. A park referee would not even give this as a penalty.”

While it was incredibly soft, the facts are there was contact meaning there is a debate to be had. As a result, making out to be so bad is simply false. West Ham have had plenty of absolutely abysmal decisions, like Balbuena’s red card for kicking a ball or Cornet’s disallowed goal vs Chelsea, but when it’s one of the “big clubs” you never hear the end of it.
