Disaster strikes for West Ham as Mohammed Kudus looks to be unavailable for an extended period of time.

In just 12 games, West Ham have already had three red cards this season. Firstly there was Edson Alvarez’s one against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and his one against Nottingham Forest this weekend, but the third came from the unlikely Mohammed Kudus.

The star boy has previously been described as “placid” by former coach Kevin Nolan, and his outburst against Tottenham came out of absolutely nowhere. While the initial scuffle with Van de Ven can be forgiven, the following attacks can not be.

Not only does it make the club look bad, but it means he misses vital games when he’s meant to be one of the club’s most important players. The red card means he misses at least 2 more games due to violent conduct, but it looks like it could be longer.

TBR Football reports that a final decision on the charges against Kudus made by the FA, and the Hammers’ subsequent appeal, will be announced on Monday. Not only does the report claim that the club expect their appeal to be unsuccessful, but they also are expecting the ban to be extended by at least a further two matches.

This means the earliest we will see him again claret and blue is 9th December at home to Wolves, meaning he missed games against Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal and Leicester.

These four games could be crucial in deciding Julen Lopetegui’s future as West Ham manager, so missing out on one of his key players must be incredibly frustrating for him.
