Who are the potential replacements for Julen Lopetegui if West Ham do decide to sack him?

What was a poor start to the season is now becoming worrying signs that Julen Lopetegui is not the right man for West Ham United.

Results have been concerning enough, but it’s the performances that really have fans worried. Aside from the Ipswich win, there’s not been a single game where the Hammers have looked like they deserved to walk away with all three points.

While he is still said to have the full backing of the board, form like this can not continue for much long and, as a result, Claret and Hugh have started to consider who his replacement could realistically be.

“The board ideally wants an experienced coach, effectively ruling out options like Edin Terzic, Michael Carrick, Kjetil Knutsen, and Will Still, who may be seen as gambles. Terzic’s spell at Borussia Dortmund, however, suggests this gamble could be worth it,” they explained.

“Other names linked to the role include Jose Mourinho, currently managing Fenerbahce. Graham Potter, the bookmakers’ favorite, is a free agent and checks many boxes.”

The article went on to put forward Gareth Southgate, Carlos Corberan, Brendan Rodgers and Paulo Foncesca as further realistic options, although there is a chance that they could go with someone else.

Rafael Benitez is considered “the big outsider” due to his recent, poor managerial performances. The likes of Max Allegri, Maurizio Sarri, Sergio Conceicao, and Xavi are also potential options but would obviously take some serious convincing.
