West Ham United are likely to finish 14th place in the Premier League this season after a poor start to the season, according to Opta’s Supercomputer.

Opta’s Premier League season simulator has predicted the likeliness of each Premier League team to finish in each position in the table. It is bleak reading for Hammers fans, the simulator has said Julen Lopetegui’s side is most likely to finish in 14h place, the same position they are currently after a disappointing start to the campaign.

West Ham’s most likely Premier League finishes:

  • 14th – 15.8% chance
  • 13th – 15.1% chance
  • 15th – 12.6% chance

The supercomputer has given the Hammers a 0.0% chance of winning the league, and even finishing 2nd or 3rd. But for those who like a long shot, the East Londoners have a 0.1% of earning Champions League football by finishing in fourth place. On the other hand, we also only have a 0.1% chance if finishing 20th according to Opta, with Southampton having a 50.8% chance of finishing rock bottom of the table.

Opta predicts the Hammers to have a 0.5% chance of finishing 19th and a 1.7% chance of ending the season in 18th. So, if correct the Hammers are in for a safe but boring and uninspiring last three quarters of the season. These percentages are not what West Ham fans want to see after spending over £120m on new players over the summer.

However, this could all change if the Hammers were to replace Julen Lopetegui at the helm, and that could happen sooner rather than later. Some reports have suggested the Spaniard could be relieved of his duties as soon as this weekend if the Hammers fail to put together a convincing performance and result at home to Everton on Saturday.

In more good news for Hammers fans, Tottenham Hotspur also have a 0.0% chance of lifting the Premier League title, while Arsenal are clear third favourites to win the Premier League, but are comfortably behind Liverpool with a 32.6% chance and the favourites Manchester City with a huge 62.2% chance of making it five titles in a row. Chelsea are the favourites to make up the Champions League spots, Enzo Maresca’s side have a 34.2% chance of finishing in fourth place.
