Glen Johnson has stated that he doesn’t have confidence in West Ham after such a poor start to the season.

West Ham current sit in 14th place with a mere 11 points from the opening 10 matches, with little to no evidence that the situation is going to improve under Head Coach Julen Lopetegui.

The team’s latest display in the 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest was a shambles, which has left many wondering how much longer does the former Spain boss have before they decide to pull the trigger.

Former Hammer Johnson has admitted that he’s not confident in West Ham at present.

“I can’t say I’m confident at the moment,” said Johnson with 10bet. “They’ve had a lot of changes with the manager, they signed a lot of players, and I think they had a good season last season.

“When you sign three or four players, you think they can kick on now. Maybe there’s a lot of change at the same time, which is why the performances are a little bit below-par.

“Hopefully he can get to grips with it and get them back to where they should be, which is much higher up the table. I’m not confident right this second, because I don’t think you can be, but I think they’ve got the players to show that they should not be down where they are in the league.”

West Ham host Everton on Saturday, which could see the club act if Lopetegui fails to deliver a positive result and performance.

“It’ll just be more embarrassing to not get a positive result,” added Johnson. “If you can’t beat a struggling side, then you’re really struggling. I don’t think it’s a must-win in terms of the league position. It’s probably a must-win to save face.

“It’s okay to lose games of football, especially when you’re in mid-table. I think it’s the manner of how you lose. If they can bounce back, put in a good performance, then all of a sudden everything’s positive and you’re on your way up.

“I guess the disappointing thing with how they lost the other day was you just beat bloody Man United. When you think you can kick on now and get some confidence and start building somewhere, then they go and put in a performance like that, which is the frustrating part.

“They’ve got next week to bounce back, and they’ve got a great opportunity to do it by playing another team that’s also struggling.”
