West Ham reportedly want to appoint a highly-rated, Portuguese manager to replace Julen Lopetegui.

If reports are to be believed, Saturday’s game against Everton could very well be Julen Lopetegui’s last as head coach of West Ham United.

While results aren’t too far away from what fans would’ve expected, it’s the nature of their performances which has them concerned. Bar perhaps the Ipswich game, there’s not been a single game the Hammers were the better side in.

As a result, the board are already said to be considering potential replacements in the event that they do have to get rid of the Spaniard.

According to talkSPORT, one of the front runners for the position is former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao. He left his position in the Summer after an extremely successful 7 year spell as manager.

Being unemployed means he will appeal massively to the higher ups at West Ham who are extremely reluctant to pay release clauses for managers.

His style of play is usually possession based, with him looking for his players to recycle the ball often in order to carve out the best opportunities. What this results in is a lot of possession at the back, players dropping deep, and a lot of rotation of positions throughout each match. Typically his sides play with a high line and a heavy press.

The decision to leave Porto came off his own back, so when looking for an out of work manager he’s probably as good as you can get.
