West Ham United have lined up former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter to replace manager Julen Lopetegui as soon as early next week if they suffer defeat to Everton on Saturday, according to a report from Caught Offside.
The report claims that after an abysmal start to the 2024/25 campaign and should the Hammers lose to Everton on Saturday, Julen Lopetegui is unlikely to remain in the role once the Premier League resumes after the international break.
The Irons let legendary figure David Moyes leave.the club in the summer in search of progression and new ideas, however, it hasn’t worked out for either the club or Julen Lopetegui. Despite spending over £120m on new players, they sit 14th place with just three wins from ten.
The humiliating 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday was a result Lopetegui simply has to bounce back from, If he is unable to get a performance and result out of the team at London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Caught Offisde believe he will be fired and replaced by Graham Potter.
The 49-year-old has been out of a job since being fired by Chelsea in April 2023, he has been linked with plenty of jobs including England, Crystal Palace and even AC Milan. But, he has yet to find a job he wants to take and that could be West Ham United.
Graham Potter is a manager that would excite a lot of West Ham fans, he has an attractive brand of football and he really helped transform Brighton into the club they are today. If he can do a similar job on a larger scale in East London, Hammers supporters would have reason to get excited for the rest of the season.
