West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek has issued a war cry ahead of our crunch clash with Everton today.

Speaking to the Club’s official website, the midfielder discussed his commitment to helping the Hammers pick up a win against the Toffees.

The Czech international also expressed his desire to help his teammates put together a run of positive performances, build some momentum and pick up some points.

Having joined the club in 2020, Soucek has been unavailable for just six of the 176 Premier League matches the Hammers have played in that time. Having scored 29 goals, picked up seven assists, recorded hundreds of challenges and made countless tackles and interceptions, it is fair to say that the Czech midfielder has played a big part in West Ham’s success in his near five years in East London.

Soucek is extremely hard working, driven, has always led by example and let his personality shine through in interviews and with the media. The 29 year old has been extremely hurt and disappointed with the club’s poor start to the season.

Back in training after illness ruled him out of the defeat away against Nottingham Forest, Soucek is hopeful the visit of Everton to the London Stadium can see the Hammers pick up a much needed three points. Soucek has great memories of facing Everton having scored a couple of memorable goals against the Toffees including an outstanding outside of the foot finish away at Goodison earlier this year.

Here’s what the Czech midfielder had to say when he spoke to the Club’s official website:

Tomas, you’re back in training, which is good news ?

TS: “Yes, it’s good news. I didn’t want to miss the Forest game, obviously, but it was necessary as I nearly couldn’t breathe during the sessions in the week, but I have done the maximum to get ready for my return.”

We know how much this Club means to you, so is how things are going at the moment hurting you a bit ?

TS: ” Yes, for sure. This Club has become like my home Club. I was with Slavia Prague for 15 years and now I have been here for nearly five, so I have two home clubs. For that reason, I want to do a good performance not just myself, but a good performance as a team as well. I want to be even like the leader, to lead the team to get better performances.”

We have an opportunity to move forward against Everton on Saturday. It would be lovely for you to repeat those goals you scored against them before ?

TS: “I like to play against Everton. Everyone thinks about potato salad as that was the first time I mentioned that, after Everton away ! I have a good connection with them, but all of this is past, and I have to go for another one again. So I will do the maximum to get something special. Obviously, if I don’t score or if I don’t get an assist, I want to be around the team to get a good performance and get three points.”
