Well respected pundit says that West Ham fans should be “concerned” over the trajectory the club is on.

No one associated with West Ham is remotely happy with the club’s start to the season. Simply put, Julen Lopetegui has not done a good enough job so far.

The minimum expectations heading into the new campaign was to firstly play a more attractive style of football, and secondly to push for Europe. Unfortunately, neither of those things look to be happening as the Irons are in horrid form and look much more likely to be in a relegation battle than a European charge.

It’s not just fans that are starting to realise that Lopetegui is not the right man for the job, with former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer expressing how “concerned” he’d be if he was a Hammer. “I was a West Ham fan,” he said on Match of The Day, “I would be concerned about West Ham because if you look at where they are now, when you look at the signings they had in the summer, spent a right few quid, at the minute, they are certainly not better than what they were last season.”

“When you look at those players and the fees that have been paid for them, I would be slightly concerned where West Ham are.”

West Ham spent well over £100 million in the Summer and have seen little-to-no reward for this – that’s what happens when you go for the cheap option when replacing the club’s most successful manager in over 40 years.
