Struggling West Ham star labelled “nightmare” for recent performances.
As a whole, West Ham’s results and performance levels have been unacceptable since the start of the year. Despite having two different managers and two rather different awards, they’ve just not been able to build any momentum.
Unfortunately, for some of the players the issues have been ongoing for longer than that, and there are serious question marks over whether they are able to start regularly for the Hammers anymore.
Ever since Lucas Paqueta’s alleged involvement in a betting scandal came to light, the Brazilian has been struggling. Obviously something like that must be a massive weight on his shoulders, but that doesn’t mean he can just keep performing so poorly.
Tony Cascarino has gone as far as to call him a “nightmare,” and labels the way the whole squad are playing as “concerning”.
“Paqueta is a bit of a nightmare because he just can’t get going. Look at him as a player with his ability, absolutely, but he doesn’t get around the pitch,” he told talkSPORT.
“The Forest performance would have been concerning for me, as in watching them and thinking how easily they dispatched West Ham. They really did. It was so comfortable.”
Things need to improve now. Although Paqueta is not the only issue, he’s becoming a liability. He’s shown no signs of becoming the player he once was and, until he does, can there really be much of an excuse for him starting games?
