West Ham United are interested in a move for AC Milan attacker Christian Pulisic, according to a report from Fichajes.
The Hammers could make a move for the in-form American winger as they prepare for a potential life without Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta next season. As a player of mixed opinions in the Premier League with Chelsea, Pulisic has more than proven his worth in Serie A with Milan since arriving for less than £20m last summer.
Pulisic has started the 24/25 campaign excellently, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in fifteen matches. His performances in the Champions League, notably against Liverpool and Real Madrid this season, have helped the USMNT regain his excellent reputation in European football.
Pulisic’s versatility is also something that could tempt the Hammers into a move for the former Dortmund man. He is comfortable playing as a winger on either flank and a number-ten, he has also previously played as a wing-back and striker.
The report from Fichajes says: “Pulisic has played a key role in Milan’s scheme, standing out for his speed, one-on-one abilities, and his constant threat in attack. His adaptation to Italian football was swift, establishing himself as a fundamental piece of the team. However, rumors of his potential departure suggest that, despite his remarkable performances, the opportunity to return to the Premier League is something both the player and the involved clubs could be seriously considering.”
A move for Pulisic could be an exciting one for West Ham, but with Kudus very unlikely to leave until the summer and Paqueta’s expected ban not set to come in until the new season, the Hammers have more pressing areas to work on in the January window.
West Ham needs a central midfielder in the January window, Guido Rodriguez has struggled to keep up with the pace of the Premier League, Edson Alvarez is frustrating the manager due to his discipline issues and Lucas Paqueta has been well off the pace all season. While being one of the very few shining lights at London Stadium this season, Tomas Soucek can definitely be improved on.
The Hammers may also need a striker, Danny Ings and Michail Antonio have been unable to find consistent goals and new £27m signing Niclas Fullkrug has only played three matches in Claret and Blue since signing after suffering a long-term Achilles injury.
