West Ham star’s hilarious reason for not playing for his country is actually great news for his club.

Football is entertainment. It may be a simple statement, but it’s so often forgotten. Players are often so determined to be the best, to look the hardest, that they lose what really makes sport entertaining.

A lot of the time, the players that are remembered the most fondly by fans aren’t necessarily those who had the most ability, but rather those who provided them with a good laugh along the way.

Michail Antonio may be West Ham’s all time leading Premier League goalscorer, but he’s much more than that. From day one he understood what it meant to wear the badge, and he’s always provided that entertainment factor with his style of play, as well as his wacky celebrations,

While he may have toned them down a bit since VAR was introduced, he still finds ways to make fans smile. Although it certainly wouldn’t have been his intention, he’s certainly done that once again in recent days.

Jamaica are due to play against the USA, and the striker was meant to be involve, but manager Steve McClaren confirmed that he would not be doing so for the most Michail Antonio reason possible – he forgot his passport!

Obviously this is absolutely typical of Antonio, but it’s actually good news for our Irons. Unfortunately, his fitness levels aren’t what they once was, and him having a rest ahead of a tough run of fixtures is exactly what the club would have hoped for.
