A young, English left-back could be on his way to the London Stadium to provide competition to Emerson.
It may have taken him nearly a full season, but Emerson has been a vital player for West Ham ever since his man of the match performance in the Conference League final. However, there’s no denying that his performances have taken a bit of a nose dive as of late.
While far from awful, he has been making a fair few mistakes, and with him now being 30-years-old, it’s probably time the Hammers start considering a successor.
Despite having a great option at left-back in Ollie Scarles, Football Insider has claimed that the club could make a move for Gent’s Archie Brown instead.
Across all competitions, he’s already contributed to six goals this season and possesses a lot of promising signs at just 22-years-old
Although he does have a lot of admirers in the Premier League, you do have to question why the Irons are so reluctant to use the unbelievable crop of talent available in their youth teams. Someone like Scarles should be in and around the first team now, and it just seems like a waste of money to buy another left-back when the young Hammer has so much potential.
