West Ham United could sign a striker on loan during the transfer window, according to a report from GIVEMESPORT.
West Ham have struggled for goals this season, and this has largely been down to the lack of a true number nine. Michail Antonio is past his best, Danny Ings isn’t trusted by the manager and new signing Niclas Fullkrug hasn’t been fit. This means the Hammers could be forced to make a move for a striker in the winter window.
Co-owner David Sullivan is reportedly open to bringing another forward to the club in January. The Hammers hierarchy has already accepted that Fullkrug wasn’t the man they should have gone for after suffering a serious injury. This has now led to Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten to look at the potential options for January.
GMS sources have been informed that Fullkrug’s ongoing absence has resulted in West Ham beginning to look at ways they can salvage the situation during the second half of the season, and recruitment staff are entertaining the possibility of tying up a loan deal due to seeking short-term solutions. The Hammers are likely to be strapped for cash this winter after spending a lot of money in the summer.
Callum Wilson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, two players that have been linked to the club in the past could be available for cut-price deals as their contracts are running out and both clubs will be reluctant to lose them for free in the summer.
In terms of loan options, there aren’t many domestic names out there, but one name that is reportedly available for loan is Real Madrid’s Brazilian sensation Endrick, obviously a very ambitious move, but he would certainly get a lot more game time in East London.
