Former West Ham striker Teddy Sheringham has hit out on the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as his sacking now becomes inevitable.

Sheringham, who joined the club in 2004 for a 3 year spell in east London, is less than impressed with the clubs decision to land on Lopetegui as the man to take the club forward.

West Ham are suffering a dreadful season thus far under the Spaniard, with latest developments at the club suggesting his days are now numbered, with a sacking a real possibility as early as next week.

The former Manchester United striker Sheringham, who was speaking to Best Offshore Sportsbooks, says that West Ham fans are disillusioned with life under Lopetegui.

“You haven’t got West Ham fans going to a game excited about what they might see,” said the former Hammer. “It’s a vibe of, ‘Geez, what are we going to get today?’”

Sheringham feels the club hierarchy did not do their homework when appointing the Head Coach, with little to no evidence to suggest he was capable of taking the club forward whatsoever prior to be given the job.

“They’ve put all their eggs in one basket,” added Sheringham. “They’ve chased him and given him a lot of money to spend.

“Things haven’t changed on a major scale for West Ham fans to go, ‘No, stick with him, he’s our man,’ They’re still not playing great football; they’re playing cautious football with too many defensive midfield players in midfield and not really exciting the crowd.

“Even though they’ve got a few exciting players in their team, they’ve not been great. So, question marks out, big time.”
