Sunderland starlet Chris Rigg looks set to turn down the opportunity to move to West Ham in favour of a move to Manchester United, according to a report from GIVEMESPORT

17-year-old Chris Rigg has burst onto the scene for Sunderland this season as they sit at the top of the Championship. The England U18 International has scored three goals in 15 matches so far this season for the Black Cats.

His excellent form and potential has alerted many potential suitors in England’s top flight already, even more than his teammate Jobe Bellingham. Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for the youngster, while West Ham United, Newcastle and Crystal Palace also hold an interest as per GMS sources.

However, all three clubs could be put off of signing Rigg due to Sunderland’s demands. They reportedly want at least £30m for their academy graduate and they will likely only sell one of him or Jobe Bellingham so any suitors will have to move quickly. West Ham are also said to have an interest in Bellingham as they look to reinvent their midfield.

With Bellingham heavily linked to a move away, Borussia Dortmund specifically, a move could be more likely in the summer. GMS sources have been informed that Rigg is more likely to entertain the possibility of embarking on a fresh challenge at the end of the season, and that would come as a significant blow for Manchester United as they have been contemplating whether to make him the first signing of Amorim’s tenure.

A move to West Ham would be unlikely as Rigg is eager to join a side regularly competing for European qualification and silverware if he makes the decision to walk away from Sunderland so soon after graduating from their academy. Rigg will hold out for a club which matches his ambition when the time comes to leave the Stadium of Light, GMS sources understand.
