West Ham insider rules out any interest in Paul Pogba when he returns from his lengthy ban.
Time after time West Ham have taken different risks on players and it has worked out in their favour. Signing Di Canio when no one would touch him thanks to the referee incident, still purchasing Arnautovic despite his track record of disrespecting clubs, or bringing in Craig Dawson when he was a laughing stock at Watford – all of these were huge risks, but they all paid off.
However, there’s some players that simply aren’t worth gambling on, and one of those is certainly Paul Pogba. The Frenchman’s career has been full of controversy, reaching its climax with a ban for doping.
The midfielder is particularly unpopular with Hammers fans, and the signing wouldn’t have been met with too much positivity.
Thankfully, according to Sean Whetstone, “the chances of West Ham signing Paul Pogba are slim to none.”
“The former Manchester United player has his drugs ban reduced from 4 years to 18 months meaning he can play again from March next year when he turns 32.”
“He has been offered around many Premier League clubs and other top European leagues after Juventus agreed he can leave as a free agent.”
“His wage demands are in excess of £160,000 per week and he would want a multi million pound signing on bonus with his agents also wanting a multi million pound fee.
Ultimately, this is a good decision from the higher ups. He’s not the sort of character the club should be looking to bring in when they’re already clearly struggling with morale. No matter how good he could be, the problems he’d bring just wouldn’t be worth it.
