West Ham United turned down the chance to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.
Mick Brown, a scout at West Ham United under David Moyes has revealed he recommended that the Hammers make a move of Dewsbury-Hall after a fantastic season in the Championship with Leicester City.
“I recommended him to West Ham last year. I thought he was very impressive when he was at Leicester, and I think he would’ve been a very good signing for the club. He would have been available, too, if they’d gone for him.
“He can travel with the ball and take people out of the game, he can pass it well, he can shoot, he can cross, he can do a bit of everything. Those are aspects I think they’re still lacking at West Ham. But they sort of waved it away, you know. The idea was dismissed, as far as I know. They never got back to me about it anyway.
However, he ended up following his manager at Leicester, Enzo Maresca in making a switch to West London with Chelsea. However, the move hasn’t quite gone to plan for the 26-year-old Englishman. He has currently only played a combined 43 minutes of Premier League football over three matches this season. He has also been left out of the matchday squad for five of their last six league matches.
As a result, clubs are exploring his availability and could make a move in the January transfer, be it on loan or as a permanent deal. Brown said: “It’s a shame he hasn’t been given the most opportunities at Chelsea, because he deserves to be playing regularly in the Premier League.“
Earlier in the week, Mick Brown told Football Insider that Aston Villa are interested in signing the midfielder in January. But who knows, West Ham are likely to want to bring in a midfielder this winter as they have been struggling in the middle of the park so far this season.
