West Ham may struggle to sell Summer signing in January for a number of reasons.

Tim Steidten is coming under more and more scrutiny by West Ham fans. Firstly, there’s his actions. He constantly wants to be in the limelight and does things some deem to be outside of his remit. Many would argue that he has no reason to be doing pre-match interviews or to be pitch side in the build up to a game.

Secondly, there’s real concern over the transfers he’s made – the main part of his job. Although a few have been excellent additions, others have been abysmal.

Someone like Niclas Fullkrug was never going to work out in claret and blue, especially not in Julen Lopetegui’s system.

The German has hardly been available since joining the club this Summer, with him still suffering from an achilles injury that he picked up while on international duty. As a result, reports have claimed that the club could sell him as early as January. However, Sean Whetstone explains that this may be impossible.

“West Ham Technical director Tim Steidten would struggle to sell unsettled striker Niclas Fullkrug this January due to his ongoing archilles injury concerns. There is also doubt whether a German club could afford the transfer fee that would be demanded by the Hammers even though a return to his homeland is his preferred destination.”

In an ideal world, the Irons would sign another striker in the winter window, but without selling Fullkrug that might not be possible.
