West Ham star urged to leave the club after 2-0 win over Newcastle.
A lot of West Ham’s club legends are ones that have come through the academy, or ones that joined very early in their career. However, some fit neither of these descriptions yet manage to perfectly capitulate what it means to be a Hammer.
Jarrod Bowen may not have been born and raised a West Ham fan, but he certainly has become one. His love for the club is clear, and it was confirmed
when he signed a 7-year-deal.
However, despite this, pundit Adrian Durham has urged the winger to leave the Hammers due to the role he is having to play. “Jarrod Bowen, you need to leave this club mate. He’s basically an auxiliary fullback,” he said on talkSPORT.
“He’s wasted at this club, absolutely wasted. He was linked to Liverpool in the summer and now he’s playing in a team like this.”
While Bowen could certainly be playing for a ‘bigger’ club, to suggest he must do this is ludicrous. Bowen has always been excellent at tracking back and putting in a strong tackle (it’s one of his most underrated attributes), so why would he suddenly decide to leave the club when this has been something he’s always done?
The amount of goals and assists he’s racked up clearly show that he is getting plenty of opportunities to attack. If Bowen was to leave, which is unlikely as the board have reportedly ruled this out completely, then it would be for a much better reason than whatever Durham was hinting at.
