West Ham fans are set to get bans for the clubs own mistakes.

Football fans are known for being tribalistic. When you enter a home end, you better be prepared to at least seem like you’re somewhat rooting for the side. Everyone knows that if you’re an away fan sitting in the home end, you keep your head down, don’t make it obvious that you support the opposition, and you definitely don’t celebrate any goals.

Unfortunately, you wouldn’t expect anything but the opposite from Arsenal fans. Multiple of their fans were in the home end, with a handful being particularly obnoxious in the Bobby Moore Lower stand.

As should be expected when giving the fans around you stick in a London derby, the Arsenal fans got battered.

The club put out an official statement saying that they will ban those involved with the fights.

While this should have been expected, and you can’t really argue against it, you also have to put some of the blame on the club. It’s ridiculous how many opposition fans get in the home end each and every game, and that’s down to the stewards to stop.

A lot of the time, Arsenal, Manchester United, and even Tottenham shirts can be spotted when they’re not even playing at the London Stadium – this has to stop. Not only does it make the club look bad, but it is dangerous as we saw against the Gunners.

You can’t condone the fighting, but you can understand. The club must do better, it’s embarrassing.
