West Ham have reportedly made contact regarding a striker with just two goals in the last two seasons.

While the signings of Gianluca Scamacca, Sebastian Haller, and Niclas Fullkrug may not have worked out, they did all make sense on paper for one reason – they all scored goals. The latter may still do so in claret and blue but, as of right now, all of them have been unable to emulate their effectiveness in the Premier League.

Understandably, fans are desperate to see the club sign a striker with a different profile, but they definitely didn’t mean one who doesn’t score.

Unfortunately, reports have come out claiming West Ham are keen on signing Giovanni Simone from Napoli, with Football Transfers now stating that the Irons have made contact with the Italian side over the signing.

Although it may seem harsh to rip into a player who doesn’t even play for the club, it would be a baffling signing. The Argentine has scored just six goals in the last three seasons, with only one in each of the last two.

Prior to his move to Naples, his goal scoring record was okay, but nothing to write home about. At best, he was inconsistent but the Hammers should not be trying to sign a player who’s not shown any sign of improving for three years now, especially not a 29-year-old.
