West Ham eye Portuguese manager to replace Julen Lopetegui.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Julen Lopetegui this week. A 5-2 thrashing against Arsenal undone all the work his side put in against Newcastle, and a shock defeat at Leicester may just be the catalyst to his downfall.

West Ham have been poor for the large majority of the season, and this has caused the fans to turn on him.

Pressure is now growing on the Spaniard, with potential replacements being lined up, and one name that’s been strongly linked with the job is Sergio Conceicao.

While his time at Porto was extremely successful, winning three league titles, he only ever lasted a year at any of his other jobs.

He may win games, but his style of play is not what we need at West Ham. It’s even more defensive than Moyes’, it is negative, and it will just cause fans to get on his back. What we need is someone young and on the up.

However, the energy the man has and the controversy surrounding him screams West Ham. He certainly would add some entertainment value to the touchline at the very least.

One reason I believe he would be amazing is he values work rate over talent – something us fans feel the same about.

While he is available on a free, the board really need to consider putting their hands in their pockets and finally getting the right man after the failure of Lopetegui. With that being said, if we do appoint a defensive coach, I think he’d be the perfect fit.
