West Ham could part ways with summer signing Guido Rodriguez just months after his arrival after a poor start to his time in East London.
The majority of negativity surrounding West Ham so far this season has been surrounding Julen Lopetegui, the Spaniard is reportedly close to the sack after failing to get the Hammers playing how everyone involved with the club would have hoped. But some fans would suggest Guido Rodriguez has been a bigger disaster.
The 30-year-old World Cup winner has struggled to find his feet early on in the Premier League and has already been linked to a move back to Real Betis.
The Hammers signed the Argentinian midfielder on a free transfer after leaving Betis in the Summer. He was reportedly set for a switch to FC Barcelona, which is one of the reasons why he didn’t sign a new contract with Los Verdiblancos. His move to Barca didn’t go through due to their financial constraints.
Betis, along with Fenerbache and West Ham were interested in a move for the midfielder after Barcelona pulled out. He opted for a switch to East London, a move that made sense due to Lopetegui’s La Liga connections and the fact he was a free transfer.
Hammers fans will have breathed a sigh of relief that he was free because he has been a disaster on the pitch. He is often out of position, he completely lacks the pace and mobility to play in an open attacking system like Lopetegui is trying and he even looks uncomfortable on the ball. which is supposed to be his biggest strength.
Hammers fans would not be disappointed to see the midfielder go with moves to Real Betis and River Plate suggested, however, nothing is close as of yet,
