Premier League legend shares concerns over West Ham.
West Ham’s win against Newcastle should have been a turning point in their season, instead it looks like it was merely a strange anomaly.
Julen Lopetegui has failed to build upon the win, losing the next two games in embarrassing fashion. The manager is now under immense pressure, with his future being unknown as of right now.
Premier League icon Alan Shearer was shocked at how bad West Ham have actually been over the last couple of games. “I mean, I don’t know. I didn’t expect them to win against Arsenal, but I expected a bit better – particularly after the result against Newcastle last Monday evening where they really deserved that result against Newcastle – so I was thinking ‘here we go’.”
“We might see a little bit better from them, but I don’t think they’re great at the back and they give too many chances away. I’m not convinced that all is well at West Ham.”
In fairness, all not being well is a bit of understatement. It’s hard to imagine how things could be much worse considering the individual quality we have. Multiple of the club’s best players have fallen out with him, the fans want him gone, and his football is abysmal, so why is Lopetegui still at the club?
As Shearer said no one expected us to beat Arsenal, but we wanted to see some fight. As for the Leicester game, that scoreline is unforgivable.
