Julen Lopetegui’s disgusting treatment of player shows why he should never have been employed in the first place.

The drama that’s gone on since West Ham’s 3-1 defeat at Leicester is bound to make the London Stadium an extremely toxic place to be next week, win, draw, or lose.

Simply put, it’s a disgrace that Julen Lopetegui is still going to have a chance to save his job. What’s bound to happen is that our Irons will get a result against Wolves, one of the worst teams in the league, and the whole thing will drag on. By the time he actually does get the sack, it will probably be too late to save our season, where we still have a chance of turning things around at the minute if we get a different manager.

It’s not just the results nor the performance that have turned things sour for the Spaniard, he’s also developing poor relationships with some of the players. Both Mohammed Kudus and Jean-Clair Todibo have had falling outs with the manager, but his reported treatment of James Ward-Prowse is shambolic.

Some news articles have claimed that the midfielder was told by the new gaffer that he would be one of his vice captains, meaning he’d be a crucial part of his plans, but just weeks later he was told he had no place in the squad and was put out on loan to Nottingham Forest.

This understandably would have shocked the dressing room, and it laid the foundation for poor leadership. No player deserves to be treated this way, and I can’t fathom as to why he would have done it. It should’ve been a sign from day one that this wouldn’t work out.

He has to go, there can be no arguing against it and this is just another reason as to why.
