A high-profile manager has turned down the opportunity to join West Ham.

Julen Lopetegui’s future at West Ham very much hangs in the balance. While it initially looked like he was going to get sacked after the Leicester game, he’s been given an opportunity to save his job with the home game against Wolves.

However, it’s reported that he has only been given this opportunity due to the Hammers not being able to find a suitable replacement.

TalkSPORT have claimed that one of the managers who turned them down was Massimiliano Allegri, with him being particularly unhappy at the idea of taking over in the middle of the season.

The Italian manager has won 6 Serie A titles and is one of the most respected coaches in football, so is it really a surprise he would not want to coach our Irons? The club is in disarray at the moment and he’d be taking over at a tough time.

On top of this, the handling of the Lopetegui situation and the clubs general runnings could very well put him off from working under the current ownership.

While he’d be the best candidate out of every manager without a club, and my personal choice, it’s highly unlikely he’d want to join us. It would be unbelievable if it did happen, but we simply aren’t on that level.
