Jarrod Bowen wasn’t happy with Wolves captain Mario Lemina last night. The Gabonese midfielder refused to shake his hand, causing a brawl after the full-time whistle.

The Hammers took all three points in ‘El Sackico’, leaving Wolves manager Gary O’Neil under huge pressure and that clearly got to Lemina last night. He initially refused to shake Bowen’s hand and the West Ham star confronted him about it before the Wolves star threw Bowen to the ground.

Bowen’s Hammers teammates immediately rushed to his side and confronted the Wolves captain, sparking an on-pitch scuffle between the sides for several minutes, Lemna was also confronted by his own teammates and staff.

Despite receiving a yellow card for his part in the scuffle and receiving some stick for starting the argument on social media, Bowen was completely right for what he did. Football is a game of respect, especially between the captains of two Premier League teams.

Speaking after the incident, Bowen said: ‘I just went to shake his hand after the game. He didn’t want to shake my hand, two captains together just to say “well done” after the game.

Despite another poor performance, the team worked hard for the three points last night and Bowen thought his team deserved more respect from the opposition than they had just battled on the pitch for ninety minutes.

This is also the first real bit of leadership we’ve seen in front of the camera since he has been captain of the club, however, especially if he keeps leading from the pitch with the ball at his feet, this isn’t something we need to see every week from our skipper.

Bowen’s goal yesterday brought him level with Hammers legends Mark Noble and Paolo Di Canio as the club’s second-highest-ever Premier League goalscorer of all time with 47, behind Michail Antonio who currently sits on 68.
