West Ham could be about to completely change the way the club is run with manager appointment.

An unconvincing win against Wolves leaves Julen Lopetegui’s future up in the air. On one hand, his side won the game, on the other they were lucky to do so.

If he does stay for at least another game, it is safe to assume that the club will continue to look at other managerial options.

Usually, West Ham’s board have one criteria that they do not deviate from when it comes to appointing managers; they must be out of work. This obviously limits the options greatly, but reports have stated that they may be willing to deviate from this.

One of the most prominent names the club have been linked with is Michael Carrick. The former Hammer has done a sensational job with Middlesbrough and would be a great appointment overall.

He plays some of the best football in the Championship, he is young, and he understands the club extremely well. For me, he has to be the first choice. Not only does his style of play fit with what the club are aiming for, but he’s someone that’s popular amongst the Easy London faithful and could really get them united once again – something they desperately need.

With that being said, I’m not confident that the board will change their ways, but they certainly should. It would be an unbelievable appointment and one they’d be foolish not to attempt to make.
