Paul Merson says that West Ham are delaying the inevitable by keeping Julen Lopetegui.

After both the Arsenal and Leicester games, Lopetegui really should have been sacked. How he survived both is beyond me.

A win against Wolves has bought him some time, but pundit Paul Merson says that West Ham are just delaying the inevitable, and that beating Wolves was the worst thing that could have happened. “I’m going to say that the win over Wolves was a bad result for West Ham, and that’s only because it keeps Julen Lopetegui on the job,” Merson stated

“I’m sure most of the fans feel the same way as me. It prolongs his stay, and that’s not very promising for them if I’m being honest.”

“I can’t see them beating Bournemouth here. Five out of six games they play after Christmas are all London derbies. I’m not sure how they will fare in all of them. This could end up being a very difficult run for Lopetegui, maybe the one that finally costs him his job.”

Anything but a win against Bournemouth simply isn’t good enough. We’re a side that wants to be competing for Europe and games like Bournemouth away must be won in order to achieve this.
