A doctor has given his professional opinion on when Michail Antonio could return following a visit from his teammates.
The footballing world had a real scare when Michail Antonio was announced to have been in an awful car crash, thankfully he managed to come away from it with merely a fracture.
Although this is nothing considering how bad the crash was, it could also have a massive impact on his career – some have speculated it could even end it. However, a doctor has provided an update on what he believes could be the timeframe on a potential return. “What we know is that he’s suffered a lower limb fracture and based on how it happened – a motor vehicle accident (MVA) and if the pictures were any indication, a high speed one – then it’s a very significant fracture,” Dr Brar told West Ham Zone.
“His timeline will be dictated by the severity of the fracture – are there multiple? What type of fracture is it? Was there involvement in any joints or from arteries or nerves? What surgery was needed?”
“Generally high speed MVAs where you are airlifted means major injury and surgery and he spends several months on the sidelines.”
“The key for a potential return is going to be how severe the injury is and how it impacts his movement and pain levels doing so. That will be touch and go for a bit until they’re able to evaluate higher levels of movement.”
Obviously the most important thing right now is making sure he recovers well rather than focusing on his career. It’s been reported that many members of the squad have been to visit the club’s all time Premier League goal scorer.
Antonio should go down as a club legend, what he’s done for us as fans is unbelievable. From non-league to the Premier League, it’s really been quite the journey for him. If he has played his last game for us it’s been a pleasure to watch him. Hopefully the club can support him further if that is the case, and he deserves to get a proper send off at the appropriate time.
